We have heard questions on recent announcements stemming from the upcoming mayoral election and potential impact on Gifted and Talented programs in New York City. 

Please join us this Friday for our general PTA meeting in the auditorium at 8:30am to hear about this and other important issues. Principal Harris and PTA exec board members will discuss advocacy for our school and upcoming events that need parent support. As a reminder, the PTA, as a 501(c)(3), cannot share a direct position on political candidates.

Auction Co-chair needed! 

The annual Anderson Auction is our second largest fundraiser of the year raising over 20% of our revenue budget and bringing families together in a fun and meaningful way. 

There is one open Auction Co-Chair position - you won’t be working alone or starting from scratch! You’ll be supported by an Auction Committee, plenty of past materials and guidance, and a full team of PTA volunteers. This is a great opportunity to bring your energy and ideas, have fun and make a real impact to our community.

Help us plan and run a 🎃 Halloween celebration fundraiser with games, treats, and spooky fun for all ages! We need volunteers—whether it’s prepping, setting up, running activities, overseeing food booths, or cleaning up. Sign up today and be part of the magic!

Join us for this annual afterschool event on Friday, 10/24!

Get ready! Tickets for this year’s Spooktacular go on sale this Friday 10/10 — and we’re kicking things off with a limited number of early bird tickets. Snag yours fast before they disappear into the night! 🕸️🕷️ 

As in recent years, we hope to have some FUN-raiser evenings for Anderson families at local sporting events. We are looking for a volunteer to lead the effort:

• Work with the PTA presidents and our contacts at local sports teams to select dates/tickets
• Digitally distribute tickets to families who purchase them
• Liaise with the sports team contact on the event day
• Oversee logistics for the outing

Previous experiences include New York Liberty, Knicks, NYCFC, Yankees, and Mets, with blocks of seats ranging from 50-100 per game. Please contact president@andersonpta.org if you are interested in helping with this year's effort.

School may be out on Election Day, but our school building will be buzzing with activity as a polling site. We are exploring hosting a bake sale/coffee fundraiser, but only if we have enough help from both parents and students.

Thanks to our wonderful team of parent volunteers, Picture Day for more than 500 students ran efficiently, smoothly, and right on time. 

Student photos will be available on Monday, October 20 for families to preview and purchase. Makeups and retakes are scheduled for Thursday, December 18, and a sign-up sheet will be shared closer to that date.

The Grand Bazaarprovides affordable retail space for local artisans and dealers. It is a significant fundraiser for the Anderson School PTA, earning tens of thousands of dollars per year.

Grand Bazaar NYC / Columbus Avenue BID Collab! 

We are so excited to announce a Grand Bazaar NYC collaboration with Columbus Avenue BID to host Grand Bazaar vendors at Columbus Avenue Open Streets! Our first collab was held on Oct 5. We managed to book an additional 20 vendors outside the space and both activate the streets (in record time) and generate additional income. The team worked extra hard to make it happen, but it was an incredible addition to our already bustling market! Our next collabs will be on October 19 and October 26. Please tell your friends and neighbors!
