Thank you for joining us during last Friday’s general PTA meeting when we discussed recent announcements related to accelerated learning, the upcoming election and other important issues. The PTA will continue to advocate for our school and upcoming events that need parent support. As a reminder, the PTA, as a 501(c)(3), cannot share a direct position on political candidates. 

Make an impact and read below to learn how to keep Anderson traditions alive and bring new ideas to life. There are so many ways to raise a hand this year!

Recent discussions about changes to G&T programs, including proposals to limit kindergarten entry, could directly affect schools like ours. These programs provide essential accelerated learning opportunities for students who need greater academic challenge. We encourage all families to reach out to city officials and mayoral candidates to share why accelerated education matters to your child and our community.

You can use the letter template provided by the PTA to make it easy, feel free to personalize them with your story and send them to the listed contacts. Every message helps remind decision-makers that families value strong, equitable public education that meets children where they are. Every message counts!

Be part of the inaugural O’Shea Election Day Cafe!  We need home bakers, on site volunteers on 11/3 and 11/4, and parents to help solicit donations from local businesses over the next few weeks. MOST URGENT - we need volunteers on 11/4 between 7-8am to setup the sale so we can catch early morning voters! Signup genius will be coming out soon.

The annual Anderson Auction is our second largest fundraiser of the year raising over 20% of our revenue budget and bringing families together in a fun and meaningful way.

Your child’s school photos aren’t just memories, they help raise funds for our school! Stomping Ground will contribute a fundraising payout based on total photo sales (excluding tax, shipping, and discounts):

• 15% of net sales if participation reaches 50% or more

• 10% of net sales if participation is 40–49.99%

• 0% if participation is below 40%

Every order counts toward our goal!

Please place your order by the second ordering deadline (January 20, 2026) to help us unlock the highest fundraising tier and support enrichment programs for our students.

The Grand Bazaarprovides affordable retail space for local artisans and dealers. It is a significant fundraiser for the Anderson School PTA, earning tens of thousands of dollars per year.

Grand Bazaar NYC / Columbus Avenue BID Collab (LAST ONE) - October 26 

Grand Bazaar NYC is collaborating with Columbus Avenue BID to host vendors at Columbus Avenue Open Streets! 20 additional artisan vendors will be located right outside the school gates on Columbus Avenue on Sunday October 26. Please tell your friends and neighbors!

Regular Market Is On! 

In addition to Open Streets, the Market will be open, as usual. Every Sunday @ Columbus Ave. & 77th St (the Anderson School Yard) from 10am - 5pm.
