📢 Advocacy for Accelerated Learning! 📢

Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent advocacy efforts! With more than 500 emails sent to the mayoral campaigns, our voices were clearly registered. We’re committed to building on that momentum as we move into the post-election phase, and wanted to share the next steps we’re taking on behalf of our school community.

Next Steps:

Engage mayoral-elect transition team for a focused conversation on accelerated learning (connections welcome, send suggestions to president@andersonpta.org).

Continue coordinating with other G&T programs, and expand outreach, especially to middle schools and specialized high schools (please share contacts with president@andersonpta.org).

Collect family and alumni stories to support future meetings and communications — send to communityaffairs@andersonpta.org.

Begin targeted media outreach to highlight the importance of accelerated learning in NYC public schools (media contacts appreciated, share with president@andersonpta.org).

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to protect and strengthen opportunities for advanced learners.

SLT Meeting on Wednesday, 11/19 at 2:45pm

The SLT team will host its November meeting in the library at 2:45 PM. The SLT is composed of elected parent and faculty representatives and meets monthly to set the Comprehensive Education Plan for the school. For more information on the role of SLTs please click HERE.

Parents are welcome to attend SLT meetings as observers, but cannot speak unless they request speaking time to discuss specific topics at least one week in advance. The Chair or Co-Chairs must approve all requests and must be relevant to SLT’s scope of responsibilities. Please email slt@andersonpta.org to make a request at least a week before the meeting or if you have any concerns/questions.

*As a reminder, grade issues or teacher-specific issues should first be discussed with the teacher in question. PTA-related or fundraising questions should be directed to the PTA.

🌟 Direct Appeal Celebrates Gratitude Week 🌟

Join Direct Appeal in celebrating our third annual Gratitude Week during which students share the many things they are grateful for at the Anderson School. We hope this sparks conversations among families, providing extra inspiration for us all to support Anderson and our kids in whatever ways we can.

This week also kicks off our Direct Appeal Participation Contest, which runs through December 31st.

Introducing….. Edna and Drake, the Golden Dragons!!!!

These two fantastic friends will be awarded to the grade with the highest participation percentage, living in the two homeroom classes until next year. Not to mention the winning grade also gets a Pizza Party with the Principal. We sincerely hope all families will contribute what they can this year.

Working Together for Better Communication

A friendly reminder: Grade-level Whatsapp groups are unofficial platforms of communication between members of the Anderson community. Please keep messages focused on school logistics and PTA topics. If parents wish to voice concerns or questions about matters taking place during school hours, please reach out directly to school administrators, teachers and SLT reps. Doing so will improve communication between families and school leaders.

Thank you for helping us keep communication constructive and our community strong.
